2.2.1 Perusasennus

1. Aseta CD:ltä boottaus päälle BIOS:ista tai valitse boottausvalikosta CD-asema

2. Käynnistä kone 1. CD:ltä

3. Aloita asennus 2.6 kernelillä kirjoittamalla linux26

4. Valitse asennuskieli (Englanti on suositeltava)

5. Valitse maaksi Other -> Europe -> Finland

6. Valitse keymapiksi Finnish

7. Jos koneessa on useampi verkkokortti, valitse se joka on WAN-liitännässä

8. Anna koneelle hostname, domainnimen voi jättää tyhjäksi

9. Valitse manuuaalinen kiintolevyn osiointi. Seuraavassa esimerkki kiintolevyn osioinnista:

   hda1	boot	primary	ext3	20 GB	/
   hda2		primary	ext3	5 GB	/var/log
   hda5		logical	ext3	90 GB	/home
   hda6		logical	swap	5 GB	-

10. Install the GRUB boot loader to the master boot record? Go Back

11. Install the LILO boot loader to the hard disk

12. Valitse että LILO asennetaan /dev/hda:han

13. Poista CD CD-asemasta ja boottaa kone

14. Is the hardware clock set to GMT? No

15. Are you in the Europe/Helsinki time zone? Yes

16. Kirjoita rootin salasana

17. Luo ainakin yksin normaalikäyttäjä ja anna sille salasana

18. Exim:in konfiguraatioon kannattaa valita local delivery only, koska postipalvelinohjelmisto vaihdetaan Postfix:iksi myöhemmin

19. root and postmaster mail recipient: <joku käyttäjä jonka loit aiemmin>

20. Valitse asennettavat paketit Manual Selection:illa ja/tai valitse kokonaisuudet käyttötarkoituksen mukaan

21. Ennen kuin asennat muita kuin asennuksessa valittuja paketteja, kommentoi tiedostosta /etc/apt/sources.list rivi deb cdrom: ..., jotta paketteja ei turhaan haeta CD:ltä.

22. Suorita komento apt-setup lisätäksesi pakettejen latausosoitteita esimerkiksi seuraavasti:
    
    valitse http
    valitse Finland
    valitse sopiva lähde, esim. ftp.fi.debian.org
    HTTP proxy information (blank for none): jos käytössä ei ole proxyä, jätä tyhjäksi
    Add another apt source? No

23. Suorita komento apt-get update, jotta äsken tekemäsi muutokset tulevat voimaan

Perusasennuksessa kannattaa asentaa ainakin seuraavat paketit:

ssh dhcp samba smbclient vim snmp snmpd postfix lm-sensors smartmontools ntpdate smbfs

Seuraavassa yleisimmin asennettavista paketeista riippuvia kysymyksiä ja niiden vastauksia:

SSH-palvelin (ssh)
